Backgorund and PersonalityEdit
Genji grew up in post World War 2 Japan. His father died during the war so he only grew up with his mother. At the age of 18 Genji became a professional fighter while he took a job as a rickshaw driver. Genji was a skilled fighter but he never really had a chance at the big time due to economic state of the country. He retired as a fighter at age 25 to open his own gym, hoping to raise a world champion fighter. He met his future wife Yuki at age 30 and married 2 years later. They were married for 35 years before she died of cancer.
Genji is generally a kind-hearted old man. He shows a lot of care and concern for all of his fighters and trains and looks after them with everything he's got. He has a strong sense of Japanese pride and spirit and follows the belief that No matter how hard you train, you won't be able to match it, you better work harder.
Genji was first introduced when Imae Date brought Aikira Miura to Karasawa Fighting Gym. He watched her get defeated by Takenouchi Mari in a spar and decided to take on her training personally, stating he could help her defeat Mari in 3 months if she trained under him.
His next appearance was when he showed Miura how to use the corkscrew blows and train her with her footwork.
He appeared the next day showing her how to shadow box by telling her to picture Mari's movements while he moved around. He gave her some exercises to work on her core and then went to help the other fighters in the gym.
